A take-it-easy weekend

As I was saying in my last post, I am officially enjoying my summer holiday by indulging myself in my three main activities of the summer (so far): I am reading/rereading some beautiful books, I am studying/researching for EYP's International Session Zurich 2013 and learning Spanish. I understand how these can be seen as not so leisurable activities, but I'm actually extremely happy that I am not boring myself to death in the summer heat.

About Spanish, I have to tell you that it has been on my to-do list for many years, but I never really got to studying it properly, grammar-wise and whatnot. I do speak it, on a conversational level, but I am (a little bit) unable to write in Spanish. I recently discovered a lovely website called Duolingo and I have improved my basic skills considerably. I also had a try with German, but it's obviously still too far from my range of loved languages. I plan on finishing Spanish and moving on to French. I do hope, however, that I will end up finishing German too, but hey, one never knows.

P.S. : Remember "An open end story"? Turns out I'm quite the lucky SOB. I ended up getting an average of 9,65/10 (!!!) in my exams and now I am waiting for my diploma in order to properly enroll in my dream college of my dream country!

In between stages

It's officially summer 

and I'm officially free of any duties whatsoever!

I am happy to announce that I'm done with my finals (the last one was yesterday) and I can now focus on much more important things, such as sleeping, reading, swimming, running (which I've missed like crazy) and simply laying around. It is, after all, my last summer free of worries until I start college.

In another order of thought, these are the first pics with my new 50 mm lens ( I've been craving this little sucker for quite a while now) and my new hair color ( whiskey on the rocks, please!! ). I feel like I'm developing into a new person and it's quite a good vibe.

However, stay fabulous and love on, as I'm now leaving for a lovely evening to celebrate a friend's 21th birthday.

However, this time I'm simply going to let the pictures speak for themselves and let you enjoy one of my favorite (and oldest) pair of heels ever!

Mission Statement

Apologies are to be avoided, right? Therefore let us start fresh!

However, I will try to motivate my prolongued absence through the fact that my life has suddenly become a life that is no longer mine. Silly as it might sound, it's frightening to see how all of my passions are now changing or, to say the least, transforming. On top of this, I have the pressure of final exams (which are only a month and a half away => double the scare). And the very reason for which I am sitting here today and typing away my thought and ideas of the moment (or actually the month), is that I have gotten the time to reflect upon the real reasons of why I even spend a second of my time thinking about this blog and the reasons I choose to continue. This is also the reason I'm not accompanying these gorgeous pictures with some fantastic words of wisdom or fabulousness. You will have to wait until future posts for that ( aka for me discussing 100 Years of Fashion ).

1. I started this blog out of a craving for success. I knew what I wanted and then I did what I wanted. It didn't turn out great though. I'm not a match for Chiara Ferragni or for the Fabulous Muses, that's for sure, but for me, personally, it's probably one of the biggest accomplishments of my life. No, I don't have a sad and weird life, but that's exactly it. I am always in search for something new and I get bored as fast as you can say "parrot" or "carrot". My blog has been around here for more than 2 years and that's probably the only thing I've done with such consistency.

2. But why didn't I start over fresh, with already gained knowledge and skills, so that I can become a match for the above mentioned? I have to confess, I have given that idea too much thought. Starting fresh, with a new name and valuable information and gadgets, it would seem easy-peasy. But I won't. Because every time I get this thought, I go to my blog and surf it, randomly, and I get to re-live so many of those fabulous moments I've shared with so many readers and it's always showing me from where I started and towards where I'm getting. It's been tracking my progress for the past 2 years and something and that is what makes it so special, both for me and for the loyal reader.

3. I am going to start fresh, but not in that way: I am adding rambling and removing planning. Hopefully, this will turn The Shoe Pendant back into something that represents me, and not the average fashion blogger (concept about which I will be talking shortly, in one of the next couple of posts).

Until my next entry, stay strong and believe in your accopmlishments, no matter how small they are to Madonna. They are probably the world to you!

The Snowflake and The Avalanche

,,No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible." Voltaire  It's been a very busy period for fashion bloggers all over the world: flying to Milan, London, Paris and so on, planning outfits, charging and recharging camera batteries, posting on blogs and so many more. It's also been a little bit of a renaissance of the fashion lovers that attend the above mentioned events. This change is mostly owed to Suzy Menkes' Fashion Circus article . Bloggers ( at least some of them) started going for simpler combinations and outrageous (meaning hideous) outfits were a little bit less on display. Or so it seems from the pictures that are rolling around the WWW right now.

Spring Scented

Hello, butterflies! I'll start by wishing you a very happy spring and may every day of your year be as beautiful as today was here.

For me, it started with some very early waking up and a 1 hour drive to Bucharest, meeting Prince Charming and getting some shopping done. I also couldn't miss the chance of taking some photos with a lovely new lens I borrowed from a friend (don't fret, I'm soon getting one of my own)so I chose the park facing Unirea Shopping Mall. Later on, I discovered another really good place for pictures, as you can see in the last photo.

With regards to the actual shopping, I'm a little bit sad because sales ended a couple of days ago. Still, I got my hands on some pieces from Glow, such as a blazer for 10 dollars, a blouse for 5 and some shoes for 20$! My star buy is, for sure, a very nice pair of tights from H&M, which I can't wait to show you in a very near post!

I'm leaving you now to enjoy the pictures from today, as I'm heading for a night out with the girls (and the boys, but it's more about the feminine side of the gang!)

Almost over

Walking around the school yard where it all started gave me a lot of things to think of. As I went there yesterday, with my mind set on taking some outfit shots with a different background, it all hit me: I started school here 12 years ago and I'm now almost taking my so dreaded final exams and walking away forever. Sure, it might not be the same school as the highschool I'm studying at now, but I can't get my mind off what I've been through for the past decade and something. Remembering my first day here, when I showed up with ponytails and holding my mother's hand, and seeing myself today, wearing plum lipstick and fur, made me realize how much I've come and how different I am now.

And it makes me think: how soon will I be saying this about university?

Leaving for the mountains

2 years of glamming

Hello, lovelies! Nice to see you after so much time. This time, I'm going to try to bring you up to date with a couple of events from the past week.
On Thursday, invited by the lovely Stefana Chivoiu from Delazero advertising company, I attended the event called "2 years of glamming", which celebrated 2 years of Remington's Romanian blog, Remington Style, and it's award of public's favorite. Since I am such a fan of hair products and such a lousy personal (aka my own) stylist, I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn some new things and maybe figure out in which beauty gadget I should invest in next.
The evening was lovely and I got to meet some new friends with whom I will hopefully meet up at future events too! Sorry about the lack of pictures though and my face in them, but busy days get the best of me (and forgetting my make-up bag at home never helps either).

Dream Trip

Waking up on a Saturday morning at 7 a.m.? Then going to school? For some, it might sound like a nightmare, but for me... for me it meant travelling to some of my favourite European countries. An amazing trip, filled with dozens of oportunities of sweet memory making, laughters and delight. A culinary trip, that is! My highschool celebrated today the International Day of Plurilinguism which happened, actually, on the 26th of September. I was in charge of organising the event and I must say it turned out incredibly well. People got to sing in a quite unique spontaneous talent show, rocked some famous tunes in karaoke and, not to mention, ate to the verge of meltdown. The foods were very well prepared, lovely presented and their tastes shall not be soon forgotten. I got to cook for my love-country, United Kingdom and I chose for the ocasion Butterscotch, Peppermint Creams and Apple Crumble (they turned out quite ok, considering the night me and The Beau spent working on them).
Also, I got the oportunity to sport out some of my newest acquisitions: a lovely silk H&M sleeveless shirt, a Moschino-inspired New Yorker belt and, what freshly came in the mail yesterday, one of my Shine bracelets! I felt so chic and comfy in the outfit I eventually wore!

 I am not perfect, nor do I try to be. I cannot characterise myself through a long line of words, passions or loves. I cannot be described by anyone, nor can try to compose a good visual image of myself. I am happy. I am a happy person and that is probably what can delineate my entire personality. 

I guide myself through the path of my life enjoying the beauty of it and trying to produce beauty. My sole concern is that of creating beauty. I am happy when I create. I simply create.

This is something that also defines my style, my fashion sense and my endless dwellings on monumental quantities of priceless (and overly expensive) clothes and shoes and jewellry.  

I choose to live under the permanent decision between being happy or not being happy, but I will never cease to mold my life around the wish of being happy, whatever that may mean.

10 Weight Loss Tips for Fashion Bloggers

I am a fashion blogger and therefore I surf through dozens of glossy magazines, websites, lookbooks and so on. And what do I see here? Well, as you might expect, thousands of nice clothes and accesories on gorgeous models that look more than perfect. And doesn't this affect so many women and teenage girls in the way they see themselves? I, myself, have been on a permanent diet for more than 5 years and nothing has helped me reach my true goal weight. But still, there are some things that have helped me get rid of a couple of pounds over the years. And what I haven't lost, I camouflage through clothing (it's a gift, like many of you know!!), like this outfit I wore at this year's Junior Prom :)

Sunt o blogger-ita de moda, prin urmare rasfoiesc duzine intregi de reviste fashion, sitea-uri si pliante si altele. Si ce vad pe-acolo? Pai, cum v-ati astepta, sute de haine si accesorii care de care mai frumoase pe modele care arata mai mult decat perfect. Si nu afecteaza asta intr-un mod ingrozitor felul in care milioane de fete si femei se vad? Eu, cel putin, o tin din dieta in dieta de mai mult de 5 ani de zile si nimic nu m-a ajutat pana acum sa ajung acolo unde-mi doresc. Dar totusi, sunt anumite lucruri care m-au ajutat de-a lungul anilor sa scap de cateva kilograme. Iar ceea ce nu am lasat in urma, camuflez prin haine ( e un dar, multi dintre voi stiti asta!), precum salopeta pe care am purtat-o la Balul Bobocilor de anul acesta:)

Summer + blog posts ideas

I never feel like summer begins on the first of June. It starts when I first leave my home-town to go to on a holiday . And my first holiday of the year begins on Tuesday. I'm leaving to Varna,Bulgaria for 5 days and then to Constanta for another 5 days during the EYP Balkan's Forum . I can't wait to spend 10 days with some amazing people and do some sun-bathing,swimming,learning new stuff and everything nice that will happen. I hope I will be able to keep you up to date with the events in the EYP ,like I did last time. Plus,here are some things I picked up for the trip : my heart-shaped TopShop sunglasses and the other two I got last week from H&m. Plus a new lipstick from Avon,the shade : Instant Mocha.

Plus, I was thinking it would be nice to help you keep your posts flowing ,not reaching blogger's block , because it can became quite annoying !
1.My most important tip is to plan ahead. You wake up and have this amazing idea for a blog post. You go wash your face and the idea is gone. So,as soon as you get an idea,write it down. This is why keeping a list is really important,so the next time you want to post something,you can just choose one of the already existing ideas.
2.Daily outfit : this is probably the simplest thing . Just try fixing something cute that day and your post will be so much simpler to handle.
3.Post about a friend's or relative's style. Just take photos of your friends in which you like their outfits.
4.While looking through Glamour.com I found this really interesting article about tattoos and it imediatelly popped into my mind : I want a tattoo,why not share some inspiration with my friends? So I'm planning a really inspiring post on the tattoo I'm dreaming of . So write something about something you've been planning : like a dream vacation or ideal project.
5.What's in your bag ? It's easy : just take a photo of the content of your bag. You can really get to know a person based on what she/he is like.
6.Think of something that is really important for your blog . Write about that .
7.You have a special care routine ? Like make-up tips,curly/straight hair tips or hair-dos.
These are just a couple of ideas on my already existing list. And I have to say,I'm saving a lot of them because I'm quite full of ideas now and it's a very happy time.

Super Powers

Have you ever wondered how it would be like to have super powers ? Imagine zapping lasers from your eyes, flying, having super-sensitive hearing or lightning speed. I've always wanted to know what people were thinking, it was my biggest curiosity : finding out things that I wasn't supposed to or what people were thinking about me. Then , I discovered that I had one super-power : as long as I was wearing sunglasses , I could let people look at me as if I wasn't aware . And that is how you can find out so many things from how they are looking at you. I love wearing my sunglasses on the street and becoming invisible and ultra-visible at the same time.

2011!!

Welcome ,2011 ! It's so nice you're here.
So we've left another year behind us ,another year full of joy,of happiness and accomplishments , full of sad moments and low times over which we've successfully passed. It's a new year and we're spending it together! I hope you're gonna be as happy as I was on New Year's Eve ,because you know, what happens on NYE will happen all year long : if you have money on you,you'll have money the whole year, if you are happy,you'll be happy the entire year. And I must say that my NYE was really good.
