The last leaf

The Shoe Pendant

It's been more than two weeks since I stepped ( more or less gracefully) on the steps of the restaurant where our Senior Prom was held. It is only now that I am realizing how fast time goes and how time is probably the only thing I don't have right now. Being burried under piles of endless finals material with a desire to pump caffeine through my entire system, I want to take the time and acknowledge the times that have passed, just to make a clean slate to the ones that are coming.

What was highschool for me? Probably what it was for most of the people in the world: 4 years filled with (unfounded) drama, delightful (and not so delightful) new experiences, new friends, best friends, frenemies (*wink*) and body image issues ( was I too fat?). It was a great life experience, though probably not the best so far, but I do have to give it some credit for getting me together with some of my best friends and Prince Charming ( yes, the people I adore with all my heart). It tought me how to experience intense feelings (not only thanks to Prince Charming *wink again*), but also to the people that thought me there was a reason fairytales were written: to put the bad guy to sleep!

But about Prom night? It was loads of fun (though a little short-cut if you ask me), it gave me and my besties to feel like princesses for a night and wear long, sexy gowns (though mine was probably the most nerve-wrecking experience I've had), luxurious hairstyles and ravishing make-up. The photos are proof of how well we felt and we can only wish to have the same impressions after our 10-year reunion (which I cannot wait for more than this!!!).

All in all, it's been a fun set of years and we can now only ask ourselves what our future (and our finals) has set up for us.

Mission Statement

The Shoe Pendant

Apologies are to be avoided, right? Therefore let us start fresh!

However, I will try to motivate my prolongued absence through the fact that my life has suddenly become a life that is no longer mine. Silly as it might sound, it's frightening to see how all of my passions are now changing or, to say the least, transforming. On top of this, I have the pressure of final exams (which are only a month and a half away => double the scare). And the very reason for which I am sitting here today and typing away my thought and ideas of the moment (or actually the month), is that I have gotten the time to reflect upon the real reasons of why I even spend a second of my time thinking about this blog and the reasons I choose to continue. This is also the reason I'm not accompanying these gorgeous pictures with some fantastic words of wisdom or fabulousness. You will have to wait until future posts for that ( aka for me discussing 100 Years of Fashion ).

1. I started this blog out of a craving for success. I knew what I wanted and then I did what I wanted. It didn't turn out great though. I'm not a match for Chiara Ferragni or for the Fabulous Muses, that's for sure, but for me, personally, it's probably one of the biggest accomplishments of my life. No, I don't have a sad and weird life, but that's exactly it. I am always in search for something new and I get bored as fast as you can say "parrot" or "carrot". My blog has been around here for more than 2 years and that's probably the only thing I've done with such consistency.

2. But why didn't I start over fresh, with already gained knowledge and skills, so that I can become a match for the above mentioned? I have to confess, I have given that idea too much thought. Starting fresh, with a new name and valuable information and gadgets, it would seem easy-peasy. But I won't. Because every time I get this thought, I go to my blog and surf it, randomly, and I get to re-live so many of those fabulous moments I've shared with so many readers and it's always showing me from where I started and towards where I'm getting. It's been tracking my progress for the past 2 years and something and that is what makes it so special, both for me and for the loyal reader.

3. I am going to start fresh, but not in that way: I am adding rambling and removing planning. Hopefully, this will turn The Shoe Pendant back into something that represents me, and not the average fashion blogger (concept about which I will be talking shortly, in one of the next couple of posts).

Until my next entry, stay strong and believe in your accopmlishments, no matter how small they are to Madonna. They are probably the world to you!

Go to Skirt Bike 2012

Photobucket

Dear girly bikers, you are all invited to SkirtBike Bucharest, on the 26th of May, around 16:30 in Circus Park. Bring your flowery garments, be chic, wear a dress or a skirt, heels or flats, a hat, maybe a scarf. Get flowers braided through your hair and don't leave your bike unadorned either. You must show that your bikes do make you beautiful.
Itinerary
Aleea Circului – Șos. Stefan cel Mare – Calea Dorobanților – Piaţa Charles de Gaulle – Bd. Aviatorilor, until Herăstrău,  Pescăruș Entrance (șoseaua Nordului).

Afterwards, stay for some tea and stories on the grazing at Roaba de Cultura, where Green Revolution will be delighting with a concert.
For all those that are interested and able to show up (as I cannot and I am deeply sad with the idea), here are some pictures that would have inspired me even further , as the concept is very dear to me, since my childhood passion has been riding my bicycle up and down the hills of my grandmother's village.

Hey there, (de)lilah

Photobucket

Falling in love is beautiful. Also, being loved is divine. But it's all even better when you know there's no suffering and no jealousy involved. Or maybe I might get jealous of another person who will be chairing any one of my delegates' committees.
Two weeks ago, I spent an amazing weekend at Busteni, chairing the AGRI committee at my last session of this spring, Transylvania I Regional Selection Session of the EYP. You might say I spend all of my time with sessions, but it's quite addictive.
This time, I was a chair for the first time and I want to thank all of my close friends that were there to help each other and my amazing delegates, who made my first experience in chairing an awesome one.
Thank you guys for dedications and for pulling through all obstacles as an amazing team!

The limit of adulthood

Photobucket

I give a special significance to dates and events and this year was not an exception. On the most perfect 21st of January, this year, I turned 18, embracing therefore, the first step into adulthood.
I had given it a lot of thought, but never did I think it would really change my perspective on life. Becoming able to vote has given me another sense of responsability and of understanding of my mistakes.
But as life goes, I have not become of an age that inabilitates me to make mistakes, nor to try making any, but to realise that making mistakes is a way to learn.
In another manner of thought, by realising something like this can be dangerous, but even the mistakes I make during typing or while I was dancing at my party have, in spite of me being aware of it or not, an effect of present and future me.
Needless to say, even though I am an adult now and my state trusts my capacities of drinking, driving and voting( therefore deciding in one way or another, my country's fate), I am still a child, a lover of the arts and a dedicate fashion blogger, desperately trying to prove myself in the world I live in and insisting on sharing my ideas and rambling to anyone, even more to those that are there to hear.

I wish for a better me to come with the new stage on which I have embarked and that what matters to me most to stay with me for the rest of my life.

Bangs, stars and hearts

Photobucket Hey,guys ! I'm finally here with an "outfit of the day" post. Haven't done it in a while . And it's not because I've slacked off dressing nice, but because taking photos requires extra attention besides my already hectic life. So , here's the deal for today : not only did I wear this great dress that I hadn't worn in ages , but I spiced up with a turqoise shell necklace and starry converse sneakers. Oh,and did I mention I got bangs ? Which shine in a very intense shade of red ? I'd been wanting a big change for a while and here it came ! I got my hair cut on the very first day of school and absolutely no one would recognise me when I arrived. By the way , I plan to redo my "back to school" outfit these days just to show it to you , because I liked it very much but didn't have the chance to photograph it. I promise to show it to you by Friday. I'm getting so much serious with my blog, now that I organised a giveaway and that I reached 102 followers. See you soon and don't forget to join my Giveaway !

Brain Food

Photobucket

I came to the country side for some peace and quiet...but I didn't get as much of it as I'd wanted to :) Why ? I'm leaving for the sea-side this Sunday , with the EYP as a candidate for the National Selection Session and I have to complete a research paper and get train bookings and lots of other preparations must be done. But still, I enjoy my evenings going out with friends and today we're going to the have a party by the Danube : lots of sunbathing and swimming and a barbecue in the night .

Plus, here's my brain food (what I use to concentrate on my research and not get distracted by blogs and online window shopping xD )

What's your brain food ?

Balkan's Awards 2011

Photobucket

Now,at the end,we had our Balkan's Awards, where the funniest things were given special awards. We had to dress up and act as if we were watching the Oscars. Prizes : hilarious !
Unfortunately,I do not have pictures of the winning people ,but I can tell you something about them.
We had someone that had , as a punishment , dress like a girl and sing "I'm a Barbie girl" . He got the "I like pink" award.
Then we had the " Most brunette gipsy" : the two people that won were fair-skinned and blonde.
And so on.

EYP Concert

Photobucket

Every EYP session has a concert where it's best musicians reward the delegates and officials with their amazing voices and musical skills .
It's a formal occasion and we had to dress up, though ,unfortunately ,I'd forgotten to pack a special dress for the concert,so I had to improvise.

Balkan's Exchange Forum - Day 3

Photobucket
(this is my favorite picture from teambuilding)

Here comes day number 3 , still in Bulgaria <3 During this day , we created paintings and collages based on the motto " Yes,we can overcome the crysis " and out committee theme . In my case , the problem of Romanians registering their cars abroad , more specifically in Bulgaria.
Also,we had teambuilding on the beach and a theme party in the night : White Party !

Every day you learn something new.

Photobucket

Every day you learn something new : sometimes you learn how to be sad, other times, how to laugh. You learn to love,to hate,to be indifferent . But no matter what , you'll always have to be happy and have someone next to you . Be there for that someone that is there for you and never regret loving and giving. Being a friend is probably the most joyful burden out there.

Rain, rain go away ! Come again another day !

Photobucket

Do you know how dreadful it is sometimes, when the weather outside it's the same with your inside ? It's one moment extremely sunny and the next thing your peace is shattered by ugly clouds ? I think it's because we usually are so vulnerable and fear the possibility of showing strength, because it might weak in front of ourselves.
But now, I feel like I'm strong enough to be strong in front of myself too.

P.S. : My blog posts are becoming a little melodramatic. I'll try to change that sometimes soon. Till then , the rain outside stopped and the sun is just rising
